Exhibits in Florence: Giotto's legacy. Art in Florence from 1340 - 1375.
From June 10 to November 2, 2008, the Florence Uffizi Galleries has planned an exhibit dedicated to Giotto's legacy. Art in Florence from 1340 - 1375.
Giotto, one of the greatest fourteenth century painters, arrived on the Florentine scene at the end of the 1200's and founded the "Giottesque school" reinvigorating fresco production and more with his creative and lively style. The exhibit covers a 35-year time period starting from Giotto's death to the foundation of a new artistic current called "glacial", due to the arrival of the plague (1348). This was an era of decadence when artwork by the Orcagna brothers experienced short-lived popularity, leaving the stage to the return of the Giottesque current at the end of the century.
The exhibit will attempt to prove the transformation of the lesser known art of this period. Works emphasize the levels of this era's artists through different painted, sculpted and miniature subjects.

How to get to the Uffizi:
Park at the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station or take the shuttle bus from the airport.
It's about a 10 minute walk through the city center from the train station or you can take bus 23.
